About 5 years ago Jim started meditation practice. As everyone knows who has ever tried to learn the practice will tell you, the ability to keep your mind from wondering off into thought about every couple seconds “feels” impossible, yet that is what the practice is about, simply clearing your thoughts and becoming more mindful, not caught up in the busyness of your active thoughts. It has enormous documented health benefits.
Yet keeping your mind free of thoughts is such a challenge that is what inspired this song. Jim woke in the middle of the night, thinking about being in a clock shop and all the ticking that goes on, and how the brain feels active like that sort of ticking with thoughts.
